The Advantages of Pico Laser for Skin Rejuvenation
A Pico laser facial is a non-invasive skin treatment using ultra-short pulses of laser energy which we apply primarily for collagen induction and the improvement in fine lines and overall skin texture using a fractionated 755nm lens. Dermatologists will use the same laser on different settings and wavelengths to treat pimented skin lesions, acne and melasma, and while some of these issues may improve with your treatments with us, our focus at Skinenvy is on cosmetic biorejuvenation. Pico laser technology has rapidly gained popularity as a cutting-edge treatment for skin rejuvenation, offering numerous benefits over traditional laser therapies. With its ultra-short pulse durations, pico lasers deliver energy to the skin in picoseconds, or one-trillionth of a second, leading to a variety of skin benefits without causing significant damage to surrounding tissue.
Minimal Downtime
One of the standout advantages of pico laser treatments is the minimal downtime involved. Unlike more invasive procedures, pico laser rejuvenation allows patients to return to their normal activities almost immediately after treatment. This makes it a convenient option for those with busy schedules who don’t have the luxury of taking extended recovery time.
Precision and Effectiveness
The pico laser’s rapid pulses break down skin imperfections, such as pigmentation, scars, and wrinkles, more effectively than traditional lasers. By using picosecond pulses, the energy is more precisely delivered, targeting only the affected areas while leaving surrounding tissues unharmed. This makes the treatment both safe and efficient, especially for sensitive skin types.
Enhanced Skin Texture and Tone through Dermal Remodeling
Pico lasers stimulate collagen production and cellular regeneration, leading to smoother skin texture and an improved overall skin tone. Fractional picosecond lasers produces laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) and laser-induced cavitation (LIC) in the epidermis and dermis respectively, and can encourage skin regeneration and dermal remodeling. It has been shown that fractional picosecond laser has a positive effect on facial photoaging, enlarged facial pores, dyspigmentation, wrinkles, and atrophic scars. (Source)
Suitable for All Skin Types
Unlike older laser technologies, which could cause complications for darker skin tones, pico lasers are safe for all skin types. This broad versatility allows a wider range of patients to benefit from skin rejuvenation treatments without the fear of hyperpigmentation or scarring.
Non-invasive with Little to No Pain
Pico laser treatments are generally well-tolerated, with many patients describing them as feeling similar to a mild snapping sensation on the skin. The non-invasive nature of the procedure, combined with minimal discomfort, makes it an attractive option for individuals seeking a gentle, yet effective treatment for skin rejuvenation.
The Skinenvy Advantage
At Skinenvy we use a honeycomb fractionated 755nm skin rejuvenation handpiece with our non trademarked pico laser, and as such, are able to offer extremely affordable treatments using the exact same technology and settings.
What to Expect From a Pico Laser Treatment
Before the Procedure
Consultation: In some instances where there are skin lesions that have not been identified by a dermatologist, the procedure may not be recommended.
Cleansing: Your skin will be cleansed to remove any makeup, oil, or dirt.
Protective Gear: You will be given protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser.
During the Procedure
Sensation: You may feel a light tingling, warmth, or a mild snapping sensation (similar to a rubber band flicking the skin). Some areas may feel slightly more sensitive than others. The Pico laser handpiece delivers ultra-fast energy pulses to targeted areas of your skin. The treatment is quick and typically lasts 30 minutes.
Little to No Heat: Unlike traditional lasers, the Pico laser does not rely on heat, reducing the risk of burns or excessive irritation.
After the Procedure
Mild Redness & Swelling: Your skin will likely appear pink and possibly slightly swollen for a few hours to a day, similar to a mild sunburn.
Tingling or Sensitivity: Some people experience a slight tightness or tingling feeling post-treatment.
Minimal Downtime: You can resume most normal activities immediately, but it's best to avoid direct sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, and harsh skincare for a few days.
Gradual Improvement: Over the next 2-4 weeks, pigmentation will fade, skin texture will improve, and collagen production will be stimulated. Multiple monthly sessions (4-8) are often needed for optimal results.
