Needling Therapies
Needling facials (also called collagen induction and biorevitalization therapies) are minimally invasive skin treatments that involve the penetration of tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin thereby stimulating collagen and elastin production. There are two different methods of needling that we use at Skinenvy: mesotherapy and micro-needling. In the former, needles are inserted into the mesodermal layer to deposit product under the outer layer of the epidermis, or in the latter, microneedling the superficial epidermis to create microchannels through which adjuncts (topicals) are applied during the process. There are different sizes of needles which can be used depending on the desired outcome.
Needling Adjuncts and the Skinenvy Advantage
The Best Scientifically Studied Adjuncts for Optimal Skin Rejuvenation
Needling has gained immense popularity for its ability to improve skin texture, reduce scars, and boost collagen production. However, when combined with adjunctive treatments, the results can be significantly enhanced. We recommend the use of adjuncts to the needling sessions to maximize skin rejuvenation. Whether incorporating growth factors, exosomes, nucleotides or low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, these treatments can be combined to help achieve exponentially smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.
What to Expect with a Needling Treatment
Before the Procedure
We will assess the condition of your skin and discuss the different topicals and your desired outcome
Your skin will be cleansed and possibly prepped with a numbing cream (especially for deeper treatments).
Avoid alcohol, blood thinners and aspirin to limit potential bruising, as well as retinoids, exfoliants, and excessive sun exposure a few days before treatment.
During the Procedure
In mesotherapy, fine needles will be used to puncture the surface of your skin so as to deliver the topical cutaneous injections.
In microneedling, a device (like a pen with tiny needles) is moved across your face, creating micro-injuries while simultaneously delivering a topical throughout the procedure.
You may feel mild discomfort (like a scratching or tingling sensation); numbing cream helps minimize pain.
The session typically lasts 45-60 minutes, depending on the area treated.
After the Procedure
Your skin may look red, swollen, and feel slightly tight (similar to a mild sunburn) for 24-48 hours. After a mesotherapy session there may be bruising and more downtime depending on the degree of bleeding during the session.
Some minor peeling or flaking may occur as the skin heals.
Avoid makeup, retinol, exfoliants, and sun exposure for a few days.
Results become noticeable in a few weeks as collagen production increases, with optimal results seen after 3-6 monthly sessions.
